The Etowah Indian Mounds Historic Site contains one of the most intact historical sites of the Mississippian culture. This location was home to Native Americans between 1000 AD and 1550 AD. This Visitors Center looks over the Etowah River and and the Allatoona dam. It has one of the most magnificent views in the area. The dam was built in 1950 by the Army Corps of Engineers.
